The 12th National Congress on Experimental Mechanics (CNME2020) will take place at Palace Hotel Monte Real, in Monte Real, at 15 km from Leiria, Portugal. Monte Real is famous for the thermal spring.
The village of Monte Real has an area of 13.5 km2, and it is in the center of Portugal, on the west side of Leiria. Monte Real is near the beaches of Vieira de Leiria, Pedrogão and S. Pedro de Moel, and is also close to other historic towns as Alcobaça, Batalha and Leiria. Monte Real has also fantastic places like a dolomitic hill, the Ulmar fields and the thermal spring. Monte Real, which means Royal Hill, has this name because King Dinis and his wife Queen Saint Isabel lived near the thermal spring when planting Pinhal de Leiria (pine forest of Leiria).
Near two highways, A1 and A8/A17, Monte Real is just 15 km to the west of Leiria. Monte Real is also connected by bus from Lisbon, Coimbra, Oporto, etc. Trains also connect Monte Real to Coimbra.
Regarding accommodation, Monte Real is a typical thermal village with many and varied hotels. Beyond the Palace Hotel Monte Real, which has a special price on all participants (see accommodation), there are a number of other hotels, all very well located. Leiria, just 15 km away, has also a varied hotel offer, like for instance: hotel Eurosol, hotel S. Luís, hotel Ibis, hotel D. Dinis and Tryp Leiria hotel.
Palace Hotel Monte Real reopened in 2009 after extensive renovations. Nowadays, Palace Hotel has all the requirements for a congress, as can be observed in the photos of congress rooms, spa, rooms and outdoor space.
